Mission Statement
Mt. Alvernia Day Care and Learning Center is an exceptional child care center in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. We help children develop the emotional, social, cognitive and physical skills needed for a successful life.
About This Cause
Mount Alvernia Day Care and Learning Center is a separately incorporated, tax exempt ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities. As such it provides exceptional childcare in an atmosphere of joy and kindness while encouraging individuality, creativity and curiosity for life-long learning. Our mission is to provide expert care for children six weeks to 12 years in a warm, caring, safe and secure environment. Each child receives physical care, and a nurturing environment that promotes their spiritual, physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. Developmentally appropriate programs are offered for each specific age group according to the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, including good dental hygiene, fire safety, making good choices on what to eat, what to do if someone is harming them, etc. We serve approximately 275 children each year. Our hours of operation: Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:45pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday. The geographic area that benefits from our services is Pittsburgh, PA.
