Mission Statement
HCC is a national non-profit that inspires and empowers undergraduate students, recent graduates and HCC alumni, particularly those from under-represented or disadvantaged backgrounds, to choose and successfully pursue authentic healthcare and public health careers. We achieve this by connecting talented and diverse future health professionals and leaders to real world experience, exposure, mentoring and networking. HCC places talented, diverse undergraduate students in summer internships that provides them with invaluable exposure, experience, and mentoring to pursue health careers. HCC connects employers and graduate educational institutions to talented diverse students who want to pursue a career in health and public health. Special emphasis on first generation college students, disadvantaged students from under resourced and under represented communities.
About This Cause
Health Career Connection (HCC), a national non-profit, inspires and empowers the next generation of diverse leaders in transformational health, equity and racial justice. We professionally prepare promising undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds and under-resourced communities with life changing, career launching opportunities. Through our comprehensive paid internship placements, virtual Health Equity Scholars Program and robust alumni professional development initiatives, participants gain the skills and confidence to contribute to priority projects at health organizations locally in communities and across the state of California. By providing real-world exposure, experience and mentorship, we can empower our next generation to discover their authentic health career path, succeed educationally, secure jobs, and immediately contribute to health and racial equity initiatives in California. Through this approach, young adults and college students are included in projects and spaces of leadership, while strengthening the diversity and talent in our current and future health workforce.
