Mission Statement
To create, organize and establish a music school to teach piano; to stimulate, encourage and promote public interest in music of all kinds; to encourage the creation and performance of new works, compositions and skills acquired by young and adult professionals and amateurs alike; to advance the appreciation of music by means of the presentation of musical concerts, performances, recitals, exhibitions and other events; to promote and enhance the cultural enrichment of the general public through the active presentation of a diversity of musical forms; to promote, increase and advance family communication and cooperation through participation in musical programs, events and activities; to hold, organize and conduct music classes, seminars, lectures, workshops and rehearsals, to teach piano lessons; to stimulate public interest in the purposes of this corporation; to make such musical and cultural enrichment available to the general population; to aid, assist, cooperate, cosponsor and otherwise engage in concerted action with private and governmental agencies and organizations - on programs that both enrich & expand the musical and artistic awareness of individuals who otherwise might not be exposed to music. To cultivate and foster the intelligent appreciation of all musical genres & styles.
About This Cause
New York Piano Academy was established in 2005 on Manhattan's Upper West Side (165 West 105th Street, NYC). During the past seventeen years, the Academy has served a variety of missions, both in the immediate community as well as outside of it. The Academy is distinguished by its vast versatility in providing a personalized training for each student, both amateur & professional alike, of all ages and on every level. Many of the academy students have been recognized as winners in coveted piano & composition competitions in the Tri-State area, as well as internationally, and have been featured at major concert venues in the U.S., Europe and Asia. NYPA's faculty is trained to cater its expertise to every individual regardless of level, experience or background. In that regard, it may be the only musical institution which nurtures both amateurs and professionals concurrently - with an equal level of expertise and dedication. NYPA's community relishes the opportunity to witness world class pianists & musicians through its Guest Recital Series, in live performances on its premises. A variety of student recitals are presented throughout the academic year, allowing every student to perform their repertoire several times a year in an engaging music sharing environment. Another special service that the academy provides is musical training & education for individuals with special needs, enhancing the lives and proficiencies of these students. Despite the absence of funding for a scholarship program, NYPA's generous faculty has for many years volunteered their own time to provide free lessons for families with financial difficulties.
