About This Cause

The Austin Center for Grief & Loss (Austin Grief) is a 5013(c) founded in 2007. The vision of Austin Grief is to be Austin's premier resource for grief, loss, and trauma resources. INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY & COUPLES THERAPY We offer individual, family and couples therapy. Our therapists have training specific to trauma, grief and loss and loss specific to children and adults. We incorporate play therapy, traditional "talk" therapy, EFT and the expressive arts into sessions. We also offer therapy groups focused around specific needs and goals. Therapy groups are led by licensed therapists and utilize approaches to foster healing, insight and change. GRIEF & LOSS SUPPORT GROUPS Evening support groups are ongoing and occur two times monthly. Each group is focused around a type of loss including: • Beyond Suicide • Bereaved Parents • Bereaved Partners & Spouses Support groups are facilitated by two highly trained volunteers supported by a clinically licensed coordinator. We are always adjusting our groups to meet the needs of the community. RETREATS, TRAINING, WORKSHOPS & CONSULTATION Continuing education opportunities in the field of grief, loss and trauma are offered by our staff for faith-based, medical, and educational personnel who work with persons who are grieving or traumatized. We also offer customized groups for organizations wishing to assist members or staff after a loss within their community. Austin Grief touches 1000's of people each year, operating out of a relatively small budget, less than $700,000, and a small staff of extremely compassionate, dedicated, and skilled professionals. We collaborate with the University of Texas School of Social Work, St. Edward's University Master's of Counseling Program, and the Texas State University Counseling Programs, training interns and licensing candidates.
