SPOON Foundation is the first and only organization dedicated to transforming nutrition and care for orphans and vulnerable children worldwide.
About This Cause
All children must receive the nutrition and care required to not only survive, but to thrive. Yet, global nutrition initiatives often overlook two highly vulnerable populations of children who are suffering at alarming rates from malnutrition: children deprived of family care and children with disabilities. SPOON is the first and only organization uniquely dedicated to transforming nutrition and care for these children. SPOON was born out of a maternal response to the devastating, yet preventable, malnutrition experienced by the founders’ adopted children. While driven from the heart, SPOON’s work is led by science, with a strong evidence-base and track record of results. SPOON bridges the gap between these children, partner organizations and parents by deploying health solutions that address critical life-saving nutrition and feeding practices. SPOON’s solutions have proven to rapidly strengthen feeding practices and improve the health of even the most vulnerable of our world’s children. Having expanded on early successes in Kazakhstan, which resulted in national policy changes, SPOON’s impact now spans Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and the Americas – including a burgeoning program in Africa and in U.S. Foster Care. SPOON is fiercely committed to the founding vision of a world where all children get the nutrition and care they need to grow and thrive.
