About This Cause

Yayasan Kul Kul, Green School located in Bali, Indonesia is a global school that educates for sustainability and inspires students all over the world, and locally to be change-makers. By taking on real problems and developing real solutions, the pre-K to grade 12 students of Green School are making an impact, now. Fresh, innovative and focused on 21st Century skills development, Green School delivers learning to 440+ enrolled students and to 600+ local children and educators through community outreach. With a focus on sustainability, students learn creative problem solving, systems thinking and entrepreneurial skills . The learning program reflects the integrated nature of the real world and students are learning while making a measurable difference in the real world, now. From growing food to School buses fuelled by used cooking oil, from composting toilets to waste management, from zero waste maker-space to designing energy solutions, Green School and its students are making a positive impact now: School bus fleet runs on used-cooking oil, saving over 3 tonnes of CO2 per month. School waste management facility recycles/reuses over 1 tonne of trash per month from local villages Solar and micro-hydro renewable energy powers up to 30% of the School campus Three artificial reefs installed and managed by students 120 kg of fresh produce harvested from the School gardens each month The “Green School Way” prepares students for the real world by being involved in it now; to have impact now; to take responsibility now; and to model and practice the skills that they need to face the challenges and opportunities of the world today and into the future.
