About This Cause
The Playwrights Realm is devoted to supporting early-career playwrights along the journey of playwriting, helping them hone their craft, fully realize their vision, and build meaningful artistic careers. The Realm’s model combines elements of producing houses, development centers, and artist service organizations to provide a wide range of resources that help playwrights create new work and build successful careers. By focusing on a few writers each year, we are able to support their individual needs by making an extensive array of resources available to them. This inch-wide/mile-deep approach allows our promising writers to benefit from a level of artistic and financial assistance that is otherwise unavailable to them, giving them a rare chance to be well-supported artists at the early stages of their careers. The Realm supports five ongoing programs: The Production Season, Page One Residency, Alumni Playwrights Program, Writing Fellowship, and Scratchpad Series.
