Mission Statement
Sri venkateswara Lotus Temple was incorporated as a religious Non-profit organization on October 2006 under the laws of Virginia state. The IRS letter determining Sri Venkateswara Lotus Temple as a tax-exempt Non-profit organization covered by section 501(C )( 3 ) of the IRS code was issued in December, 2007. The IRS letter also provided that donations made by donors to Sri Venkateswara Lotus Temple is tax deductible under section 170 of IRS code. SVLT is committed to promoting and preserving our rich heritage and traditions through religious, educational and cultural activities and giving the best to our youth and at the same time capitalizing on the knowledge our elders' here can share. The temple is being built on close to 18 acres in Fairfax, VA in the form of Lotus flower with petals suspended in the pond. The significance of Lotus flower personifies serenity, grandeur, and wealth. Lotus flower quality is to remain pure and clean even if surrounded by dirt and malice.
About This Cause
• To strive for spiritual richness and individual excellence through assimilation of values in Vedic scriptures into our daily lives. • To provide opportunities and a conducive environment to the community for worshiping, learning and practicing the teachings of the Vedic scriptures. • To offer programs/activities to encourage and develop our youth spiritually and culturally, emphasizing the need for the knowledge of Vedic texts. • To establish a place of worship, cultural and educational facilities in the community to foster a greater awareness and development of spirituality, religion, education and promote cultural heritage. • To assist in various charitable causes such as food for the needy; comfort to terminally sick and prison inmates, etc. and extend relief and assistance in times of natural disasters. • To recognize and respect other religions and belief systems in their proper context
