Binaytara’s mission is to improve healthcare in resource-poor communities and enhance cancer care worldwide by educating healthcare providers and community members, advocating for better access to care, and conducting research to develop innovative program models and services that promote equitable access to healthcare.
About This Cause
Binaytara is dedicated to improving healthcare in resource-poor communities and advancing cancer care worldwide. Dr. Binay Shah, an oncologist and Tara Shah, a registered nurse founded Binaytara to address the disparities in cancer detection, treatment, and access to care, particularly in underserved regions. Binaytara has led groundbreaking initiatives, including the establishment of Nepal’s first bone marrow transplant center, palliative care programs in India and Nepal, and cervical cancer screening initiatives for low-income women. Our efforts have been possible through collaborations with global healthcare leaders, local governments, and dedicated supporters who share our vision of equitable healthcare access. One of Binaytara’s most impactful projects is the Binaytara Cancer Center (BTFCC) in Janakpur, Nepal, which opened in 2018 as the first and only cancer hospital in Madhesh Province. This facility provides a range of cancer care including chemotherapy, surgical oncology, palliative care, and preventive services. However, the capacity of the 25-bed hospital is limited as there are over 6 million people in this province without access to care. Binaytara has acquired land & building permits to expand the hospital from 25 beds to 200, aiming to serve 20,000 patients annually. This expansion will not only enhance treatment capacity but also support education, outreach, and research, strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure. Binaytara continues to seek partners and donors to help build a future where life-saving cancer care is accessible to all, regardless of geographic location.
