Mission Statement

Eternal Family Project, Inc. (EFP) is on a mission to break the cycle of poverty among young women in Honduras, through the power of a forever family. EFP means so much more than just providing a meal or a place of momentary refuge to abandoned, abused, and neglected girls. EFP provides a complete life support system for our girls.

About This Cause

The story begins with Allison Alexander, who developed a love for the people of Honduras after volunteering at an orphanage. She moved to Honduras a few years later with the idea of helping young women get an education to be self supporting. She started in 2004 with four young women (17-18 years old) by mentoring them and assisting them with college. Over the years, the mission has grown and there are about 30 girls and young women who have been part of EFP's mission. These girls have come from orphanages, off the street, or just abandoned by their families whether because of poverty, neglect, or abuse. EFP runs similar to any other family, with Allison functioning as the mother and the girls are true sisters to one another. There are now several young women who EFP has supported through university, reaching their career goals and breaking the cycle of poverty they were born into. EFP has no paid staff and is run completely by volunteers, some who raise their own support. There are generally 1-3 support staff that volunteer in Honduras at any given time to assist with various day to day needs such as social media outreach, grocery shopping, school administration, donor relations, and just about any other thing you can imagine. Some have been there for years and others come down for stretches of 3-6 months as their work schedules allow. We have 2 paid Honduran staff that assist with maintenance needs, legal matters including adoptions, and other house and ministry needs. Our annual budget is about $200k which, like most non-profits, is difficult to make ends meet with so many needs. Our greatest need now is moving forward with the construction of a new home. Over the years, Allison has moved several times as finding rental homes for such a large family is always a challenge. During 2016, EFP was able to acquire over 7 acres of land. The challenge now is to raise funds to build a home, school, and volunteer living quarters on the land. This property vision is our biggest step toward sustainability and stability.
