Mission Statement
To propagate the philosophy and ideals of the visionary and messiah of the marginalized in India Dr. Ambedkar. To help the marginalized people of India (especially Dalits or ex-untouchables and Tribals) to acquire world-class education in India and abroad. To establish educational centers to improve their accessibility to first class education and to recognize the unsung heroes among them.
About This Cause
-Established FFEI in 2003 with a small amount in India. Registered in India in 2008. -Registered in US in 2009 and got tax exempt status from IRS. -Our projects include: Ambedkar Scholarships, Ambedkar Microloans, Ambedkar Libraries, Ambedkar Awards, Helping Hands (help to Individuals), Healing Hands (help to caste atrocity victims), Organizational help (help to rural schools to get infrastructure) etc. Some projects are discontinued due to lack of funding. -Helped thousands of students from financially, educationally, socially backward students with cash prizes (Rs.5,000) to recognize and encourage them to study further . -Ran micro loans project for some years to help the poor to start small businesses. -Helped a few caste atrocity victims (Dalits). These were the people who get punishments on account of the caste they were born in. -Recognized several unsung heroes from the marginalized castes otherwise never get recognition for their selfless work. -Helped individuals and/or students with equipment like computers, to study professional courses like nursing, engineering etc -Established small libraries (reading rooms) in areas where there is no such facility. -Some of the projects were discontinued due to lack of funds. -Complete transparency maintained from the beginning through our website. All donations and disbursements were posted there for anyone to see. Established direct donor-beneficiary contact, if donors are desired to interact with beneficiries. -No paid staff and all are volunteers. Our overhead costs were none or minimal. Note: Our website in being renovated and so some information is not available as of now. Projects in offing with availability of funds: -Reviving discontinued projects. -Overseas scholarships: To bring students abroad for further education. -Research project: To encourage socially relevant research in India.
