Mission Statement

The Boston Book Festival produces events that engage children and adults in a celebration of literature, ideas, creativity, and culture.

About This Cause

The Boston Book Festival produces events that engage children and adults in a celebration of literature, ideas, creativity, and culture. Our signature events include the Boston Book Festival, New England's largest literary event, which annually draws more than 25,000 attendees and close to 200 authors to Boston's historic Copley Square for a day of presentations and discussions, as well as a street fair, live music, workshops, Writer Idol, and kids’ sessions and activities. Publishers Weekly called the Boston Book Festival, which was founded in 2009, “one of the best in the country”. In 2018, the organization expanded to include a children's festival in Nubian Square. Aimed at families with children ages 0-12, the day-long festival offers innovative and engaging literary programming, as well as puppetry, music, performance art, wellness activities, and hands-on science and visual art projects. Both festivals are, with the exception of a handful of special events, entirely free and open to the public. We rely entirely on the support of individuals, foundations, government grants, and corporate sponsorships.
