Mission Statement

AOS-USA is a Catholic association of the faithful that adheres to Catholic values, morals and theological teachings as found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is to teach and witness to the Word of God and to serve God's people; especially seafarers, maritime personnel and people of the sea; by fostering their growth and renewal, through prayer, study and Christian service. In addition AOS-USA promotes the professional training of maritime ministers, and advocates for the People of the Sea.

About This Cause

AOS-USA is an association of AOS Port Chaplains, Cruise Ship Priests, Maritime Deacons, Lay Ecclesial Ministers, seafarers and other concerned persons. It provides a forum to exchange ideas, develop policies and programs, and enhance communication for achieving the aims and goals of the Motu Proprio Stella Maris. AOS USA is the professional Catholic association for the US Merchant Marine, supporting participation in maritime organizations and seafarers issues. AOS-USA reaches out to mariners, fishermen, cruise passengers and crew, recreational boaters, their families, and all who work or travel on the waterways of the world. AOS-USA advocates for mariners to ensure a safe work environment, just contracts, a genuine welcome and safe haven while in port, spiritual renewal, communication with loved ones back home and recreation opportunities. AOS-USA operates the Cruise Ship Priest Program to provide valid priests in good standing onboard cruise ships for the Sacramental and Pastoral Care of passengers and crew.
