About This Cause

About the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund and our project, the Center for Protest Law and Litigation As leaders in bringing high impact civil rights and constitutional rights litigation for over 25 years, the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund has won groundbreaking cases, changed laws and policies, and secured millions in damages for persons whose rights have been violated. Our litigation work is integrated with outreach, education and advocacy with affected groups, communities, activists and organizations in racial, social and environmental justice movements. Our work is focused ultimately on creating meaningful social, political and legal changes and dismantling systems of repression. Our Center for Protest Law & Litigation works to protect and advance the rights of protestors to organize, assemble and demand justice around the country. We defend free speech rights through affirmative civil litigation, including against police violence, as well as criminal defense of protestors swept up in political arrests. From Standing Rock to Line 3 we have defending Indigenous-led water protectors targeted for their peaceful environmental justice advocacy and have taken on police violence and repression against racial justice activists across the country. Called “the constitutional sheriffs for a new protest generation” by the Washington Post, the PCJF’s work includes landmark constitutional rights litigation, often concentrated in the areas of free speech, assembly or other protected political organizing activity. The PCJF’s hard-hitting investigative work and transparency program has forced the disclosure of thousands of government documents about secret and illegal surveillance programs resulting in groundbreaking analysis and exposés. This work has revealed the government’s use of anti-terrorism agencies and funding against peaceful political protest in America. Please join us in the fight for justice and consider supporting this work today!
