Mission Statement
My name is Chucky Rosa and I am a 501c3 non-profit speaker in the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. I am very passionate about this cause and I dedicate a significant amount of time teaching youth and families about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. My family and I have been momentously affected by the tragedies of addiction. We have lost two sons to addiction (Domenic and Vincent) and I have vowed to make a difference through awareness and education. I believe if I can save at least one child, through hearing my story and sharing my experience of loss, strength, and hope, it is all worth it. I have created a website www.chuckysfight.com. When our sons passed away, we spread their ashes into the ocean. So now, every day I take a dip into the ocean (regardless of the weather) to revisit them. My wife, Mary records this daily ritual to offer a positive message to viewers on the website to start each day. We encourage others to join us in this celebration of life clean and sober.
About This Cause
We educate youth and families on the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse by speaking at facilities such as schools, colleges, detention centers, sober houses, churches, etc. about our personnel experience of losing two sons and almost a third to dangerous drugs. We have dog tags with our logo on them to give out to all who make a pledge to stay clean and sober, or to give to someone who they know that is struggling. We believe that the tag represents something tangible to remind them of their pledge when going through difficult times. I talk of my own experience and how I overcame alcoholism and how I cope in life now. I also spend time helping others and their families in this situation by getting them into treatment centers. We sometimes pay for their first month tuition or will pay for a flight to Florida for Rehabilitation since I believe that relocation is very helpful to get away from people, places and things locally that are triggers for the addict And I spend time with at-risk youth while mentoring and teaching life skills such as cooking, food shopping, nutrition, gardening skills and even Self-defense techniques. We have a small industrial kitchen in town and also a small gym at my home. I also raise money by doing plunges with volunteers and participants who donate to our cause as we jump into the ocean here at Seabrook Beach. I jump in every single day of the year (regardless of the weather) to reconnect with my sons whose ashes are in these seacoast waters. We video the plunges and put them on our website www.chuckysfight.com and our Facebook page for all to view.
