Mission Statement

The Spierings Cancer Foundation's Mission is to: Provide Financial Grants to local families struggling financially due to Cancer. Provide Grants to Local Cancer Centers to enhance Cancer treatments in the Fox Valley. Provide Research Grants to researchers at Universities and Cancer Centers in the State of Wisconsin.

About This Cause

The Spierings Cancer Foundation was founded in 2009 by Jim Spierings after he survived a stage IV cancer of the throat & tongue. We are a 100% volunteer driven 501c(3) non profit we have no paid employees. The Foundation's only fund-raising event is held Annually at Doyle Park Little Chute Wisconsin on the 3rd Saturday in August. The event is called Rock Cancer and is organized by a 12 member Rock Cancer Committee. Rock Cancer is attended by between 4,000 and 5,000 people, it starts with the I Cancer-vive 5k walk followed by an all day live music festival. Since 2009 we have raised over $1,850,000. The money raised by our Rock Cancer is returned by to our local community, 40% is given directly to families who are struggling financially to keep up with all of the bills associated with a cancer diagnosis; 30% distributed to local Cancer Center as grant to purchase equipment and/or services needed to enhance cancer treatments in the Fox Valley; and 20% is directed to Universities and Hospitals in the state of Wisconsin to provide seed money to Cancer Researchers as the start new research projects. To date we have awarded $779,647 in grants to families battling cancer, $451,635 in grants to local Cancer Centers and $212,361 in grants to support Cancer Researchers in the State of Wisconsin. The foundation is governed by a 9 member Board of Directors made up of local business professionals.
