TO UNIFY AND CELEBRATE THE DIVERSITY, CREATIVITY, AND BEAUTY OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, QUESTIONING, QUEER, AND NON-GENDER CONFORMING (LGBTQ) COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND OUR SUPPORTERS, IN ORDER TO EMPOWER AND PROMOTE THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF ALL FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.
About This Cause
South Carolina Black Pride (SCBP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to unifying and celebrating the diversity, creativity, and beauty of South Carolina's Black LGBTQ+ communities and their allies. Our mission is to empower and promote the human rights of all families and communities. Established to address the unique challenges faced by Black LGBTQ+ individuals, SCBP provides a supportive and inclusive environment through various programs and events. Our flagship event, the annual Black Pride Week, attracts attendees from across the Southeast and features activities such as the Cultural Arts Wellness Festival, PrideTalk, Pride Brunch, and the Unity Block Party. These events not only celebrate our community's vibrancy but also offer health and wellness resources, connecting individuals with healthcare providers and promoting overall well-being. Beyond our annual celebration, SCBP engages the community year-round through initiatives like "Monthly Mixers" and "Quarterly Educational Sessions," fostering connections and providing valuable information on topics relevant to our members. Our commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community engagement is encapsulated in our "6 Pillars of Pride," which guide our mission and goals. By creating spaces that honor and uplift Black LGBTQ+ voices, SCBP strives to promote cultural competence, unity, and advocacy within and beyond our community. Our efforts aim to address historical marginalization and foster an environment where all individuals can celebrate their authentic selves.
