Mission Statement
The Chase Brock Experience is the Brooklyn-based dance company of choreographer Chase Brock. The company aims to create a compelling body of work, unique for the melding of exceptional dance performed by a diverse and multi-faceted collection of dancers, the commissioning of original scores from outstanding contemporary composers, a strong focus on placing dance in fully considered visual environments, the use of live music whenever possible and the regular participation of artists from a broad range of media.
About This Cause
THE CHASE BROCK EXPERIENCE, the “candy-bright company” (The New Yorker) celebrated for its “stylized showbiz mayhem” (The New York Times) and “whose dances mix a witty Broadway sensibility with rock-and-roll zest” (New York Magazine) is the Brooklyn-based dance company of choreographer Chase Brock. Since 2007, CBE has premiered 30 dances (to music from Beethoven to David Yazbek to Nellie McKay) and six commissioned scores (from Joshua Rosenblum to Michael John LaChiusa) in New York seasons at Joyce SoHo, Abrons Arts Center, Dance New Amsterdam, Baruch Performing Arts Center, The Connelly Theater and Theatre Row, in the La MaMa Moves! festival, and in galas at Galapagos Art Space and Florence Gould Hall. CBE has appeared in Fire Island Dance Festival, Hudson Valley Dance Festival, the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Series, Downtown Dance Festival, Chatham Dance Festival, Dance Gotham Festival, Dance from the Heart and Solstice in Times Square, and at The Joyce Theater, Symphony Space, 92nd Street Y, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, Purchase Performing Arts Center, Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre and on tour from Wilmington, North Carolina to North Haven, Maine. CBE has received coveted residencies at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, Catskill Mountain Foundation and The Orchard Project, and has received choreographic commissions from Dancers Responding to AIDS in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2015. In addition, CBE created the dance numbers and served as the animation references for Ubisoft's bestselling video game Dance on Broadway for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Move. www.chasebrockexperience.com
