Mission Statement
The main mission of ISWEM is to establish and maintain an Islamic Center that shall provide religious and spiritual support for the Muslims to live their lives in accordance with the principles of Islam. Additionally the mission of ISWEM includes providing social services (such as food shelf and food assistance programs etc that is open to all), non-religious educational programs, children and youth recreational and enrichment programs, emergency support for those with immediate needs, programs that support diversity and inclusion including interfaith and intercultural cooperation and to promote good citizenship in the broader community.
About This Cause
The Islamic Society of Woodbury – East Metro (ISWEM) was founded in 2009 and is a non-profit organization located in Woodbury, MN. Since its inception ISWEM has become a major spiritual center for the Muslim community living in the eastern suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota and Western border towns in Wisconsin. ISWEM is the nearest Masjid for many of these communities for about 80 miles on highway I-94 East going towards Chicago/ Milwaukee. ISWEM provides daily prayer services as well as Friday prayer services. ISWEM also maintains a youth weekend religious educational program for kids ranging from preschool to 18 years of age. ISWEM also provides a host of social services that are open to all, including people belonging to other faiths. Demand for these services have also grown significantly and ISWEM strives to meet the growing social needs of the wider community. These services include: Food shelf and other efforts to provide food security to those in need Clothing drives for those in need Other types of assistance (including financial) to those in need General (non-religious) Educational Classes and Seminars on topics including health and wellness, nutrition, computer literacy, financial literacy etc Youth Sporting Events such as soccer coaching and games, Table Tennis Events etc Adopt-a-park program where Colby Lake has been adopted by the organization General Community volunteering Book Club Social Events such as Henna night and kids fun night Interfaith Events and Dialogues to promote understanding and tolerance among people and institutions belonging to all faith and belief systems
