Mission Statement
The purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial support for various youth, humanities, sciences, music and arts programs in the greater west valley area of Santa Clara County; to provide financial support for international projects of Rotary International through The Rotary Foundation; and for other publicly beneficial projects as the trustees of the Foundation deem appropriate.
About This Cause
THE DOUG MCNEIL FUND. The Foundation established the "Doug McNeil Fund" to help support the financial burdens of former member and co-founder of the "Lighting for Literacy" project. Doug was diagnosed with ALS in June 2017. According to his wife, Sherri: "Fortunately, we are able to have a primary care doctor, two respiratory therapists, a pulmonologist and a cardiologist that visit Doug regularly. The annual cost of his care is in excess of $250,000 not covered by insurance". The fund was established to accept contributions from individuals, organizations and businesses to help defray Doug's medical expenses.
