Mission Statement

The Northwest Art Center's mission is to enhance lives by teaching the value of art, ideas, expression and creativity through quality visual arts education for all ages and abilities.

About This Cause

Founded in 2009, the Northwest Art Center (NWAC) is the only non-profit arts education organization dedicated to serving the Snoqualmie Valley—a predominantly rural area. Each year, approximately 260 students receive quality art education and mentorship through NWAC’s programs while over 1,000 community members are engaged in the arts through our outreach activities that take place in schools, as part of local cultural and civic events, as well as art displays and activities in public spaces. To keep art accessible, NWAC offers scholarships for students who would not otherwise be able to engage in art education. For artists of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, NWAC serves as a both haven and a hotbed of creativity. At NWAC, we believe passionately that every child should have the opportunity to engage in the art process—regardless of income or background—and experience the benefits of quality art education. By starting at the preschool and elementary level, children learn to become critical thinkers, keen observers, and innovators. NWAC’s core classes are designed to meet Washington state education standards in art which meets a significant need in our community where arts education is not formally offered in local public schools until the high school level. In order to make sure our programs are effective and on track to achieve our mission, we regularly solicit feedback from our students and parents about our offerings and involve them in strategic planning. Many of our students go on to pursue higher education in the arts, architecture, or art education—something we see as a sign of the effectiveness of our programs.
