About This Cause
Planet Women partners with women and their communities to jointly craft solutions to the world’s toughest environmental challenges in the places that are essential for stabilizing earth’s climate and protecting biodiversity and human health. We build deep relationships with partners on the ground, looking for the communities best positioned to protect nature. We work with women to co-create and lead all initiatives, as well as invest in solutions that benefit women, their families and their community. Beyond a focus on gender equity, our initial conservation investments will target restoring and protecting forests and river basins—key landscapes for climate resilience and human wellbeing. We are creating a new model of leadership, one that embraces power sharing, collaboration, compassion and intuitive wisdom; one that centers women and marginalized voices; and one that seeks to understand and address our history of oppression and colonialism, an unhealed wound that still impacts the way we treat people and nature. Fundamentally, Planet Women believes that more women and more diversity leading and participating in environmental decision-making will improve environmental outcomes that benefit all of humanity and the essential biodiversity underpinning a healthy planet.
