Mission Statement
The Overtime Theater is a non-profit organization with the mission of “theater for the people” to the greater community through new productions and workshops in acting, play-writing, and comedy improvisation. We are dedicated to providing original, innovative, and accessible entertainment at an affordable price. We are a 100% volunteer only organization and receive funds from ticket sales and patron donations.
About This Cause
The long standing mission of The Overtime is to create theater for people who don’t go see theater. We are the gateway theater for people to discover the wonderful social relationship theater offers. We have had numerous success stories come from patrons telling us they had never been to a live theatrical production before and that their experience has confirmed that they will definitely be back for more. Some of our favorite repeat patrons are those who had never been to a theater show before visiting us. We offer free tickets to Military through our VetReach program working with VetTix. We produce original work with an emphasis on San Antonio and surrounding area playwrights. We offer content that appeals to a wide variety of patrons. In addition to our original plays and musicals, we offer Improvisational Comedy and a Cabaret which features everything from sketches to songs to poetry to interpretive dance to stand-up comedy. Our shows have included everything from period pieces to absurdist drama. We’ve offered farces, musicals, social change pieces, memoirs, dramas, dream pieces, traditional contemporary and more. We support diversity and stand in solidarity with the Black community.
