Mission Statement
Kids & Art uses the power of the arts and creativity to mitigate stress, anxiety, and trauma induced from diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer and other critical medical conditions.
About This Cause
KIDS & ART Founded by a parent whose own child was diagnosed with cancer, Kids & Art Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides supportive, hands-on creative arts experiences for children with cancer and their families in person, online, and through care centers. OUR PROGRAMS Kids & Art programs are designed by artists and art educators, with projects tailored to the needs of pediatric patients and families while in treatment. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kids & Art Foundation redesigned our programs to offer live, online experiences to best support the pediatric oncology community. We strive to be there for these families when they need it most. With all of the changes, interruptions, and uncertainty that is happening right now, Kids & Art will continue to be a constant for children and youth touched by cancer. Current programs include online art workshops, an online drop-in art room, and Amaeyzing ArtKits sent directly to families and care centers monthly. All Kids & Art programs are FREE for pediatric patient families. Costs are covered by our generous donors. Our goal is to focus on the NOW and create memorable experiences through their journey because Cancer Sucks. Art Heals! WHY IT MATTERS Kids Get Cancer Cancer is the second most common cause of death among children ages 1 to 14 years in the United States. In 2022, an estimated 10,470 children in this age group will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,050 will die from it. Art Heals Studies show arts and creative expression improve the well-being of cancer patients and their care circles. Research on children with cancer indicates that engaging in drawing and painting is an effective method for dealing with pain and other disturbing symptoms of illness and treatment.
