Mission Statement

To provide healing through Dream Hunts and Outdoor Adventures for wounded Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Navy Corpsmen. These hunting and fishing excursions play a vital role in the rehabilitation of these American heroes.

About This Cause

The Combat Marine Outdoors story began in 2005 after Colonel Al Orr and Master Gunnery Sgt. Art Garcia spent several months with combat-wounded Marines and Sailors of the 1st Marine Division at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. They saw that, wounded service members needed an opportunity to get away from the hospital and into an environment of friendship, camaraderie, and fellowship to accelerate recovery from traumatic combat injuries. The needs of each veteran differed, but all who participated in these outings expressed an enormous sense of accomplishment and a new sense of hope and belonging. CMO received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2009. CMO has since devoted its time and resources to the emotional and mental rehabilitation of US military veterans in rebuilding their lives. The healing power of the outdoors eases struggles in recovery and demonstrably changes lives for the better. Our hunting and fishing trips create a safe space for healing, encouraging participants to embrace the mental, physical, and emotional challenges that open into meaningful and fulfilling lives.
