U-TOUCH aims to empower individuals and communities in developing countries to create solutions to their own challenges through access to and knowledge of internet technology.
About This Cause
U-TOUCH.org's overarching mission is to harness the power of technology to uplift disadvantaged communities, foster inclusive development, and create sustainable change in Uganda. Through its multifaceted programs and partnerships, the organization strives to empower individuals, enhance educational opportunities, foster economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life in the communities they serve. U-TOUCH.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities in Uganda through technology and education. The organization's primary goal is to bridge the digital divide by providing access to information, technology resources, and educational opportunities to underserved populations in Uganda. The acronym U-TOUCH stands for "Ugandan Technology Outreach Community Hubs." The organization recognizes the transformative power of technology and its ability to create positive change in the lives of individuals and communities. By leveraging technology, U-TOUCH.org aims to enhance education, promote sustainable development, and foster economic empowerment in Uganda. Here are some key aspects of U-TOUCH.org's charitable activities: Technology Access and Infrastructure: U-TOUCH.org works to establish computer centers equipped with modern technology infrastructure in rural and disadvantaged areas of Uganda. These centers serve as hubs for community members to access computers, the internet, and other technology resources. Digital Literacy and Education: The organization provides comprehensive digital literacy training programs to individuals of all ages, empowering them with essential computer skills, information literacy, and digital citizenship. Following their theoretical and performance mastery graduates are awarded their U-TOUCH ICT Certification. These educational initiatives aim to improve employability and enhance educational opportunities for participants. Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment: U-TOUCH.org supports entrepreneurial development by offering training, mentorship, and resources to aspiring entrepreneurs. Through technology-driven initiatives and business development programs, the organization aims to create economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods within communities. Sustainable Development and Agriculture: U-TOUCH.org recognizes the importance of sustainable agriculture in Uganda. The organization provides training and resources to farmers, enabling them to adopt modern agricultural practices, improve yields, and enhance food security. Gender Empowerment: U-TOUCH.org is committed to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. The organization offers specific programs targeting women, providing them with technical skills, entrepreneurship training, and access to resources to enhance their economic independence and social well-being. Additionally, academic education is supported for youth in need. Health and Community Development: U-TOUCH.org collaborates with healthcare providers and local communities to leverage technology in improving healthcare delivery. This includes initiatives such as telemedicine, health information dissemination, and training healthcare workers in the effective use of technology. U-TOUCH has trained individuals across the spectrum of communities including community youth out of school and in school, teachers, physicians, nurses, farmers, businesses, police, local government employees, and NGOs to name a few.
