Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve the lives of Homewood’s children and simultaneously reweave the fabric of the community in which they live.
About This Cause
The Homewood Children's Village is a child-centered, community oriented nonprofit that engages children who live, learn, and play in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our children are immersed in a community surrounded by violence, blight, and generational poverty. All of these factors negatively impact the ability of a child to learn, or to go on to thrive as adults. The Homewood Children's Village believes in a holistic approach to addressing each child's overall well being. We take a systems approach to develop comprehensive solutions. We deliver them by aligning with partners at various intersections. Our work is informed by our in- house research team that evaluates our programs and partnerships, and leads research on issues affecting Homewood. Through our own signature initiatives and local community partnerships, we are building a strong village of support for every child from cradle to career. Together we are working towards a future where all of our youth graduate from high school ready to thrive in college, career, and life.
