Responsive Law works to make the legal system more affordable, accessible, and accountable to the people it is meant to serve.
About This Cause
Many groups represent the interests of lawyers, courts, and industries. We’re the only organization representing the interests of individuals in the legal system. Rules governing the legal profession prevent lawyers and other service providers from delivering affordable legal help. These rules, enacted under the guise of consumer protection, actually serve to benefit lawyers who would prefer to continue an anti-competitive status quo. Compounding the problem, these anti-consumer regulations are enacted and enforced by state bars and supreme courts—the same lawyers who stand to benefit from maintaining the current regulatory structure. We advocate on behalf of consumers to replace rules that preserve a cartel of self-regulating lawyers with rules that actually protect consumers.
