Mission Statement

As one of the first public elementary schools in the city of San Francisco, Garfield has been providing a rich academic environment for local children for more than 100 years. Today, Garfield is a small, tight-knit community serving 235 children of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds in grades K-5. Garfield Elementary offers general education classes and a Chinese Immersion program, and a Special Day Class (SDC) program for children with mild to moderate autism.

About This Cause

Garfield's Parent Teacher Organization is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of committed parents, teachers and community members who work to provide volunteer and financial support to help Garfield achieve its mission of providing a high quality education with a focus on cultural and civic engagement. Proceeds from all Garfield’s PTO fundraising efforts support various programs and activities, including Garfield’s technology, computers, iPads, enrichment programs, arts, physical education programs, fine arts, special events, classroom support, field trips, special school equipment, 5th grade and Kindergarten graduations, classroom supplies, and so much more!
