Mission Statement
Academy of Medical & Public Health Services (AMPHS) is a community health organization in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY that creates a local system of accessible care for disadvantaged immigrant New Yorkers. Our unique approach offers culturally-sensitive interventions in a de-institutionalized healthcare environment, free of charge and blind to documentation status, income or insurance. Our mission is to identify barriers to health and wellness in underserved immigrant communities; coordinate primary care with social assistance; and deliver care with dignity and empathy to marginalized New Yorkers. AMPHS offers coordinated interventions in 3 program activity areas—clinical services, social services, and education—which together address the root causes contributing to the health disparities among underserved immigrants, so we can ensure healthcare is not a privilege but a basic human right.
