Mission Statement

Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory (BHAC) exists to introduce pathways to careers and workforce development in film, art, and digital media for our communities who have most historically denied these opportunities. Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory advocates for developing an intentional framework toward diversity in the creative arts, media, and technology fields—one that is socially and economically inclusive and accurately reflects Los Angeles County regarding ethnicity, gender, and age. The most effective way to do this, we understand, is by dismantling the many barriers to equal opportunities in the arts and creative industries so that they and those interested in pursuing such careers therein can truly grow and thrive.

About This Cause

Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory (BHAC) focuses on creating and introducing pathways to careers in film, television, broadcasting, and digital content creation to BBIPOC (Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color) youth who have historically been denied access to opportunities in the creative arts industries. We work with seasoned mentor/femtor/themtor. Teaching Artists to provide programming that translates into component and proficient workforce skills. BHAC opens our doors to support marginalized students, who often lack access to resources such as studio space, mentorship, subsidized private instruction, exhibition opportunities, media technology, and financial literacy. Our programs are created with youth in mind, specifically focusing on the challenges and learning curves that we can address through our programming and curriculum.
