MACC Development exists to seek the holistic revitalization of Detroit’s 48214 zip code, block by block, neighbor by neighbor.
About This Cause
Founded in 2010 by Mack Avenue Community Church to be the hands and feet of the church, MACC Development seeks the holistic revitalization of Detroit’s 48214 community. Since our founding, we have focused our efforts on youth education and sports, housing and blight, and economic development. We have created several initiatives to spearhead solutions to those challenges. Our award-winning literacy and youth sport and recreation program serve over 500 youth annually. Our housing programs have rehabilitated multiple residential properties, supported homeowners with small-scale repairs, and assistance with accessing foreclosure prevention services. We have sold rehabbed homes to residents at affordable rates, stabilizing the communing and supporting the economic empowerment of families. We have facilitated the investment of over 1.5 million dollars in home purchases and renovations. In addition to those efforts, MACC Development renovated an abandoned commercial space at 7900 Mack Avenue. The 12,000-square-foot retail property between Indian Village and Pingree Park is the home of The Commons, a unique combination coffee bar, coin laundry, and administrative offices.
