About This Cause
To fulfill Loom’s mission to the vulnerable we are committed to bring their voice and cause to a greater audience. We believe that throughout the world, there are relationships that can serve to bring the poor what they lack—relationships that honor and respect their humanity and history. We do this, first by connecting with local partners, introducing them to the projects that Loom is engaged in training or coaching, with an understanding that relationships with these projects are interdependent, based on mutual respect and conversation and need. Loom’s interaction with local partners provides them with a way to be engaged locally and internationally. To promote the interest of the vulnerable, we put a high value on face-to-face conversation and listening. Many of our projects are founded on the understanding that people learn and change through committed relationships. Our initiatives with local partners continually come back to not just the awareness of issues but both local and international engagement. To increase the number of projects benefitting from the training, resources, people and information that Loom brings, we have a strong focus on a face-to-face engagement. We do this by intentionally traveling through a nation or region, finding and getting to know people working with the vulnerable. We attend conferences where practitioners gather with the aim to meet and learn from them. Loom training is always inclusive. We increase the served population by opening our training to as many as are interested. We intentionally plan for our training tools to be multiplied by encouraging and training local participants to go out and teach the material themselves to others they are connected with. These new facilitators of the teaching further contextualize and take the material to local families, teachers, churches, social service settings and community venues where we cannot reach.
