Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Bi+ Task Force (LABTF) is a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit organization that promotes education, advocacy, and cultural enrichment for the bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and other non-monosexual ("bi+") communities and allies in the Greater Los Angeles area, which includes Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. LABTF has been a "virtual tenant" at The Village at Ed Gould Plaza / Los Angeles LGBT Center in Hollywood since 2010.
About This Cause
National-level accomplishments include sending bi+ leaders annually to the White House Bisexual Community Roundtables between 2013-2016, and co-creating the petition to Google to unblock the autocomplete function for the word "bisexual" from search engines in 2014. LABTF is one of first bi+ orgs in the nation to honor Celebrate Bisexuality Day with a large celebration - the Bi Arts Fest hosted annually between 2010-2017. LABTF was also a partner of the must-read "Invisible Majority: The Disparities Facing Bisexual People and How to Remedy Them" 2016 report and has served as a partner of the Bisexual Health Awareness Month (BHAM) campaign since 2014. Local-level achievements include conducting the Bisexual/Pansexual/Fluid Community Needs Assessment of Greater LA in 2014, being the first bi+ org to march under its own banner at Los Angeles Pride in 2011, and marching as a community partner in #ResistMarchLA in 2017. LABTF leaders spoke to the West Hollywood City Council's Lesbian & Gay Advisory Board (now renamed the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board) about bi+ inclusion in 2016 and have received proclamations from the City of Los Angeles in 2015 and City of West Hollywood in 2017. Other notable events include our trademark "Bi & Beyond" educational workshops, our virtual "Bi-alogue" series, as well as talks featuring notable bi+ scholars and newsmakers like Dr. Lisa Diamond, Robyn Ochs, Lani Ka'ahumanu, Kyle Schickner, and other local bi+ leader gatherings and retreats.
