Mission Statement
The Rosewood Initiative is a place-based nonprofit that serves as a community anchor and resource hub, and fosters community building across East Portland neighborhoods. Through the Rosewood Community Hub site on 141st & Stark, our goal is to improve access to support systems that build economic stability and upward mobility, increase health and wellness, and strengthen community resilience.
About This Cause
We believe that everyone deserves a safe, well resourced and amenity rich neighborhood. Our organization convenes and works collaboratively with nonprofits and government agencies, creating a true Community Hub complete with sustainable programs that meet the immediate needs of our neighbors, while also working upstream to address root causes. Programs such as our Rosewood Bucks used at our Makers Market put dollars directly into the hands of our neighbors and local businesses - Rosewood bucks give our neighbors income to spend on local goods and increase the revenue for local small businesses. Programs such as Wellness Wednesday bring fresh food directly to our neighborhood and provide an intentional space for community members to connect with health service providers on a regular basis.
