Mission Statement
The Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch, (HSLWR) located in Lakewood Ranch, FL is a non-profit animal rescue and shelter organization that provides assistance and care for at-risk animals in Manatee and Sarasota counties. HSLWR will help to rescue and save thousands of animals in the coming years and assist their new adopted families/owners in being responsible and caring for them. HSLWR is committed to helping its communities become No Kill, where all adoptable animals find a home.
About This Cause
HSLWR offers a safe environment and shelter for companion animals including medical care, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, micro-chipping, by loving and caring individuals, while with us and until we can adopt them into a new suitable home. Animals will stay with us as long as it takes to find them a new home. HSLWR primarily serves the East county areas of Manatee and Sarasota but will also extend centrally and West as needed. We will provide outreach education and programs to extend the no kill philosophy to surrounding areas, to municipal animal services where high euthanasia rates exist, and we will become ardent stewards and protectors for the animals. We will always do our best to help owners and animals that come to us from anywhere. A dog or cat has no idea where it came from or lives, just that it wants to live. We accept that and reach out to help all that we can. Our vision is to be recognized as the regional leader in animal welfare through quality care, humane education and financial stewardship. We will be a state-of-the-art rescue and shelter organization. We will respect all animals, owners, and caretakers. We will find suitable permanent homes for our animals. We will provide quality medical care to our animals. We will educate owners and the community on the importance and responsibilities of animal ownership. We will uphold the no-kill philosophy in all we do.
