Mission Statement
Cristo Rey Columbus High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school with a Professional Work-Study Program empowering young men and women of all faiths, from economically challenged families, to excel in college, in career, and in character.
About This Cause
Founded in 2013, Cristo Rey Columbus was the 26th school to join a national network of 40 Cristo Rey schools. At Cristo Rey schools, students fund part of the cost of their education by working in professional jobs. This work-study model diversifies and stabilizes the school’s funding model and exposes students to professional careers and mentors. Since many Cristo Rey students will be first-generation college students, the modeling and mentorship components are critical. In 2013-14, Cristo Rey Columbus opened its doors with a single class of freshmen. They became our first class of seniors, who graduated in June 2017. 100% of all seniors since inception have been accepted into at least one college or university! In our Professional Work-Study Program, we partner with over 100 local businesses, non-profits, and government offices who benefit from our students’ work and mentor those students on their path toward college.
