About This Cause
REDEFINING PHILANTHROPY: The word “philanthropy” is in our brand, and so is the word GO… an active verb. Our donor community is just that — ACTIVE. They are motivated to do more than write a check, have a genuine desire to be personally involved in global issues and share a belief that education is the single most powerful tool in the fight against poverty. GoPhil provides a dynamic platform for donors to learn about, and become directly engaged with, the programs they fund through travel and other events. A platform to LEARN about relevant issues facing the world today—an exploration of the root causes, and the various approaches being used to drive change. The opportunity to TRAVEL and ENGAGE first-hand with the programs they support. Invitations to attend events and be a part of our growing, vibrant globally-minded COMMUNITY. Exploration of the various ways to make a PERSONAL difference. Who Our Donors Are The majority of our GoPhil Community members are individuals, couples, families and small family foundations. Many of them begin their journey with GoPhil before any financial contribution is made–by simply traveling with us to see the work in person. This personal experience and first-hand engagement fosters ambassadors—donors who then have a desire to learn more, do more, and inspire others within their own personal and professional networks to participate. Our ambassadors have developed personalized, unique ways to generate more support for Gophil’s work such as initiating corporate matching grants at workplaces and by forming memorial funds to honor passed loved ones. It is not uncommon, as we interact with donors, for us to hear the question—“I have a desire to give back, to travel, to do something meaningful. Can GoPhil help with where to start?” For many of us, the desire to make a difference has been within us for a long time, yet the path to realizing its potential is not always clear. We value each and every opportunity to help discover, explore and bring to life someone’s passion to do something meaningful, because we have been there ourselves. In building GoPhilanthropic, we have created, with great care, a safe, trusting, and supportive place for individuals to direct their philanthropic intentions. Who Our Partners Are We partner with small, grassroots NGO’s in 7 countries around the world (Kenya, India, Nepal, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Guatemala) and have an average of 40 different programs we support, all focusing on critical root cause issues such as access to education, health care and human trafficking. All partners are carefully vetted to ensure that they match GoPhil values as well as support community identified/driven needs. We provide our partners with tools for cross learning, networking and capacity building in order to support their own sustainability. As a GoPhil Community member you have the opportunity to see all this first -hand and to learn about the impact of your support. IDENTIFYING INGENUITY AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, FACILITATING PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATION, ENCOURAGING PERSONAL, ONE-TO-ONE, ACTIVE, AND ENGAGED PHILANTHROPY ARE ALL VALUES THAT GOPHIL, EVEN IN ITS EARLIEST DAYS, HAS HELD CLOSE TO THE HEART.
