Mission Statement

The Brooklyn Japanese American Family Association (BJAFA) is a New York State licensed, the non-profit organization that provides parenting support to Japanese and Japanese-American families living in Brooklyn, NY and around there. Our three major areas of activity are: - Teaching Japanese and Japanese-American children the Japanese language and culture - Making connections among Japanese and Japanese-American families and their children - Sharing information and learning to support these activities BJAFA relies on cooperative efforts by numerous volunteers for its operations and the execution of these activities.

About This Cause

Our organization supports Japanese and Japanese-Americans, and their children based in the U.S. through a variety of events and programs to help them develop strong bonds as a community by meeting and interacting with each other in person and online. We also provide as much useful information in Japanese as possible to help them live in the US. The most important thing we do is to support the children of Nikkei growing up here in the U.S., in the hope that they will grow up to love their homeland, Japanese culture, and Japanese food, and eventually become bridges between Japan and the U.S. and the rest of the world.
