Mission Statement
Believing that Christ has called us to “The Great Commission”, Children of Zion, Inc. cares for orphaned and vulnerable children in Namibia, and provides a Christian education for those in the local community. In partnership with churches, Christian organizations, the Namibian government, and our local staff, we are raising children to become Christian leaders for Namibia.
About This Cause
Children of Zion, Inc. seeks to honor God is all decisions and activities in relation to ministry. The commands to “go ye into all the world” and to “care for the orphans and the widows in their distress” are taken seriously. We believe that the Lord has called us to be involved with caring for orphans in the African country of Namibia. The Namibian government has invited us in to begin and continue this project, and as such we are guests in their country and will adhere to their policies and respect their people. The plight of the orphan is great. The continued cycle of poverty and illness is all too common. Children of Zion, Inc. provides a Christian home for the children entrusted to our care and introduces them to Jesus Christ, the maker and healer of all people. We provide the nourishment and medical care to promote good health. We provide academic and vocational education to enable the children to be qualified and successful in a career. We employ Namibian citizens to become family and caretakers and mentors and build relationships with the children. Our goal is to raise the children to become responsible Christian adults who will share their faith and gifts and live as productive citizens in Namibia. Children of Zion, Inc. believes that a successful ministry in a developing country is one which can be eventually completely turned over to the local people. We are moving toward that direction step by step as we have given more leadership to our Africa employees. We have a missionary couple directing the project, however, under their directorship are three nationals who have supervisory positions: The Chief Matron overseeing the care of the children and supervisor of housekeeping and child care staff, the Principal of our school overseeing the education of the children and supervisor of our educational staff, and the Property Manager supervising all grounds and maintenance employees. We also employ a local social worker to advocate for our children.
