Mission Statement

ThinkActPeace Foundation, Inc. is a charitable, non-government organization dedicated to building peace villages in developing countries. Its programs aim to stimulate and support the sustainable development of underserved and forgotten communities and the integral human formation of individual members. The TAP vision is to develop progressive communities where members Think and Act Peace by: sharing talents and resources to solve common problems; wisely utilizing local human and material resources; developing the community’s social and cultural heritage; and participating knowledgeably and responsibly in the democratic political process.

About This Cause

ThinkActPeace (TAP) is a group of registered organizations in the USA and the Philippines. ThinkActPeace Foundation (USA) is a 501(c) organization registered in the state of Washington. ThinkActPeace Foundation Inc. (Philippines) is a SEC-registered corporation in the Philippines. ThinkActPeace International is a non-profit registered in the State of Florida. All three independent entities are held together by a common vision-mission and a common project in Masbate, Philippines. TAP’s pilot project is Benson Peace Village (BPV) in the Province of Masbate, one of the poorest islands in the Philippines. BPV is a community center located in the fishing village of Bato,Tinaclipan, in the municipality of Milagros which has a population of about 45,000 individuals in more than 8,000 households. BPV serves disadvantaged children, youth, families, and communities in three small villages of Tinaclipan namely: Bato, Maligaya, and Unidad. It has both all-year and short-term projects utilizing a holistic approach to community development in five main program areas—Literacy, Health & Environment, Sustainable Livelihood, Social-Civic Participation, and Mental-Spiritual Wellness. Its Mater Purissima Learning Center offers daily library services and literacy tutorials. BPV's most popular programs are the joint Summer Leadership and Literacy Camps, the former for new college graduates who are to tutor in-school/out-of-school kids of the Summer Literacy Camp, and the Livelihood program for women. The Summer Leadership/Literacy Camps provide a training ground for would-be teachers by preparing them to meet special challenges in educating both slow and fast learners from economically disadvantaged families. The Livelihood program teaches women various skills for a cottage industry -- handicraft making, sewing, food processing, and any other remunerative trade. TAP is mainly staffed by local volunteers but welcomes capable and experienced volunteers from overseas.
