Mission Statement
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based non-profit that rescues homeless, abandoned, and neglected dogs and cats from rural, high kill shelters where they face certain euthanasia. LDAR brings them to the DC metro area to find them loving forever homes. LDAR also provides education about responsible pet ownership and resources to help pet owners with training and veterinary needs.
About This Cause
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a foster home based organization with no facility or shelter. All of our animals stay with loving foster parents after they are rescued from "death row" in rural, under-funded, and under-serviced shelters. Our animals come from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Puerto Rico. We hold adoption events on Saturdays and Sundays so that potential adopters can come and meet our animals. Lucky Dog works closely with local vets and trainers to ensure that all of our animals get the care they need to find their forever homes. Lucky Dog exists because of its wonderful donors, volunteers, and adopters. We estimate it takes the work of approximately 11 volunteers to get a single dog adopted! LDAR is always looking for new volunteers, and there is no obligation when you sign up other than to receive our bi-weekly emails that detail the help we need.
