About This Cause
Badin High School is an inter-parochial high school, serving grades nine through twelve. It is a comprehensive high school which admits students of all levels of ability. Curriculum is offered on four distinct levels. 93% of Badin graduates continue their education. Our Student-to-Teacher Ratio is 16:1. Badin offers a nurturing environment where students are prepared academically, spiritually, and socially for a world which needs skilled young men and women of high character and purpose. Badin High School is named after Father Stephen T. Badin, the first Catholic priest ordained in the United States. Father Badin once served as the pastor of St Mary parish in Hamilton, now a part of the St. Julie Billiart parish community. Father Badin’s interest and contributions to American Catholic education were great and his commitment to our parochial school system garnered him much praise in his time. Read more about Father Stephen T. Badin. Stephen T. Badin High School first opened its doors the fall of 1966, to become the first coed Catholic high school in Butler County. Hamilton Catholic High School for men and Notre Dame High School, for young women, served the area well, from the early 1900’s until their closings in 1966. The Sisters of Notre Dame, the Brothers of St. Mary, archdiocesan priests, other religious orders and committed lay persons laid the foundation of our faith community that continues today at our present location on New London Road. Hamilton Catholic opened up in 1909 on Dayton Street in Hamilton. It currently serves as the Board of Education Office. Notre Dame High School opened up in the late 1800's on South Second Street across from St.Joseph's Church in Hamilton. It has since been refurbished and is currently a Senior Citizens Apartment Complex. Badin High School, and before that, Hamilton Catholic and Notre Dame high schools, have enjoyed tremendous successes through the years - in the classroom and on the playing field. We celebrate the past and renew our commitment to the future. We hope you will be a part of that tradition well into the next century. Philosophy and Objectives Stephen T. Badin, one of seventeen secondary high schools within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati school system, serves the secondary students of all the Catholic parishes in the southwest Butler County area in addition to all others who wish to take advantage of a Catholic/Christian education. In this service we believe that we are called by our Creator into a human family destined to an everlasting life with Him. To this end, the family, the fundamental unit of society, has the primary responsibility to educate and to pass on Catholic tradition to its children. It is of the utmost importance to educate a student to take a place as an active member of the Catholic community, as a responsible citizen in the larger community and as a productive individual who finds purpose and meaning in life. Badin High School's purpose is to assist parents in the development and continued spiritual growth of their children. We consider our contribution to this growth and development to be our most important task and goal. Our civic community needs informed citizens responsive to the democratic ideals and traditions of our country. In common with all other schools we are also committed to equipping our students to be responsive to the needs and problems in our changing democracy and in the world. Each individual student should discover the philosophy, knowledge and skills which will promote a personally productive and meaningful life. Our task is to help each individual student attain knowledge and to develop these skills. In light of this philosophy, Badin High School set the following objectives: 1. To make the students aware of their own uniqueness and of God's plan for salvation by providing a developed course of religious studies, liturgical and para-liturgical services, opportunities for retreats and days of recollection, opportunity for private spiritual guidance and counseling, and opportunities to lead the Badin community in worship. 2. To provide an atmosphere of dialogue between the family and the Badin staff so that the families' values can be supplemented, supported and encouraged through the educational program, parent conferences, parent organizations, newsletters, and student support groups. 3. To create an atmosphere in which the Christian community can be developed through the educational program, service organizations, volunteer work, and planning and participating in liturgical and para-liturgical services. 4. To prepare our students for responsible citizenship through the educational program, student government, student activities, community resources, and community involvement. 5. To provide an educational program that will enable the student to develop individual talents, and to prepare to lead a meaningful, productive life through the curriculum, student activities, volunteer programs, and student services.
