About This Cause
Since 1963, Stepping Stones has been helping people with disabilities find pathways to independence that will improve their lives and enable them to be more fully participating members of their communities. People with disabilities of all ages and their families come to Stepping Stones year-round for: Fun, Friends, Learning New Skills, Enjoying the outdoors and sports, Respite and a caring community. Stepping Stones serves the entire family. Children’s programs are open to siblings and others with mild or no disabilities, creating integrated and inclusive programs that encourage family unity and meet parents’ scheduling needs. Teens and Adults learn new skills and make friends in programs especially for them. Day and overnight camps, weekend and evening programs and adult day services programs give families respite from constant care. Attending Stepping Stones is affordable. More than 85% of our participants qualify for government or other financial assistance. There are also a limited number of scholarship available. You’ll find a safe environment at Stepping Stones. All staff are required to have State and Federal fingerprints prior to working with individuals with disabilities. Every three years staff are re-fingerprinted. In addition, the HR department reviews everyone to see if they are located on the Nurse Abuse Registry or the Abuser Registry. This occurs again prior to employment, and is updated yearly. Our staff members are highly trained and experienced in working with people with disabilities. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified. Everyone on our programs staff receives at least eight hours of yearly training on behavior management, universal precautions, incidents adversely affecting health and safety, rights of people with developmental disabilities and overview of serving people with developmental disabilities. Scenic pastoral settings await Stepping Stones’ participants at our four campuses in Southwestern Ohio.
