Mission Statement

The Kentucky Center's Mission is to lead and enrich the artistic, educational and economic vitality of the region by providing unparalleled programming and cultural events. We inspire, educate, and entertain; building lifelong relationships with the arts.

About This Cause

The Kentucky Center is a vibrant institution featuring world-class artists and performances. We are the home for Louisville’s nationally-renowned arts organizations—including The Louisville Orchestra, Kentucky Opera, Louisville Ballet, Stage One Family Theatre, PNC Broadway in Louisville, as well as a host of community theaters and our own Kentucky Center Presents performances. The Center offers discounted rental spaces for community theatre companies, bringing a wide variety of local talent to our stages. We have over 500 volunteers who are also scheduled during the summer months at Iroquois Amphitheater and at select performances at Actor’s Theatre. And we are proud to partner with and support innovative local groups like the IdeaFestival and YES! Fest. Collaboration is a top priority for The Kentucky Center, and we strive to be the community's most trusted and accessible arts partner. The Kentucky Center also serves as a vital arts education resource for Kentucky’s students, teachers, and community members. The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts has provided much-needed arts education opportunities and training to high school students from every single county in the Commonwealth. The Kentucky Center’s ArtsReach program provides year-round arts education programs and instruction to thousands of underserved youth, ages 3-18 years old, in community centers across the Metro Louisville area. And our Arts in Healing program is bringing the power of the arts to community healthcare facilities—contributing to a healing environment for patients, families, and staff. The Center also trains teachers in utilizing the arts across the school curriculum. Our school programs have trained over 23,000 educators, impacting more than 5,000,000 students. These programs serve as a catalyst for arts education and community arts activities throughout Kentucky. The Center is committed to fulfilling its statewide mission through outstanding programs that build bridges of access and understanding to the arts.
