Mission Statement
The Heritage Commission Corporation is a non-profit entity that exists to preserve South Charleston historic buildings and artifacts, educate area residents on its history, and enrich the quality of life of our community.
About This Cause
The Heritage Commission Corporation preserves and maintains an 1820's log cabin, a DT&I railroad depot, and an historic Opera House located on the second floor of the Town Hall. We mail out a quarterly newspaper of local history and current historical events. We also conduct educational historical tours for children and adults, including house tours, cemetery walks, historical business locations walks, and church architectural and historical tours. We host an annual Heritage Days Festival highlighting music and historical games for children.
