About This Cause

Ohio Wildlife Center is a statewide leader in wildlife animal rescue and rehabilitation. For 40 years the Center has provided critical community services and a range of wildlife protection activities through its Wildlife Hospital in Franklin County and a 20-acre outdoor Education Center in Delaware County. The Wildlife Hospital provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for native Ohio wildlife that is injured, sick, displaced or orphaned, with the goal of returning a healthy individual back to the wild. Founded in 1984, Ohio Wildlife Center is the only Wildlife Hospital of its kind in the region and admits and treats more than 8,000 animals each year. Once qualified to move to the next stage of rehabilitation outside the hospital, animals are transferred to the Center's Pre-Release Facility (PRF) where the animals complete their recovery before being released back to natural habitats. The Center is also a leader in wildlife education. On-site and off-site community programming reaches more than 30,000 people a year. Summer wildlife camps educate children from ages 6-12. A free information phone service assists thousands of citizens each year in resolving human-wildlife conflicts and those seeking rescue services for distressed wildlife. Programs deliver a variety of topics on the environment, conservation, and co-existing with wildlife. Wild Animal Ambassadors in permanent sanctuary at the Center bring inspirational stories from nature to life. The Education Center is comprised of woods, ponds, wetlands and meadows. Resident ambassadors include Bald Eagles, Red-tailed hawks, foxes, coyote, owls, racoons, amphibians and waterfowl. The Center also operates SCRAM! Wildlife Control, the community's leading non-lethal, humane animal exclusion and control service for conflicts with wildlife in homes and businesses. SCRAM! is a social enterprise unit whose fees for service support the operations of the Center's hospital and programs. Ohio Wildlife Center is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization supported through charitable donations. We receive no state, county or federal government funding for operations. Private gifts enable the Center to provide its services to the community.
