Mission Statement
The mission of Haven House since 1993 has been to provide each family and/or individual with an alternative to domestic abuse, violence, and sexual abuse as well as provide shelter, counseling, and community resources to those in need of services in order that each family and/or individual should have adequate means in our community for assuming responsibility for their own health and growth toward a productive life. Our goals are to a) Provide victims of domestic abuse, violence and sexual abuse needed services regardless of income; b) Establish a comprehensive and coordinated referral and follow-up system of services and programs for families in need; c) Develop and increase community understanding and support of needed services for the victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families; and d.) To conduct operations of the shelter in a highly effective and accountable manner. Haven House is staffed 24-hours a day and equipped with an alarm system.
About This Cause
Haven House of Pickaway County has an alarm secured, facility with 32 total beds, kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities provided. We provide housing for all victims of domestic violence and women and children who are homeless who most often have left an abusive situation. Haven House will run a safe, confidential shelter to address the problems faced by victims of family violence, with emergency and transitional shelter services for victims who have escaped violence; 24-hour hotline providing information to callers in crisis; court advocacy, and case and shelter management. Case Manager and Victim Advocates are key to implementing services to clients: 1) an initial needs assessment to determine the victim’s immediate and future needs; 2) a self-sufficiency plan setting goals and what steps are necessary to meet those goals for self-sufficiency for that individual or family; 3) an individualized safety plan to help the victim remain safe and protected from violence; 4) resources and referral to collaborating agencies; and 5) empowerment through information. Haven House works to promote equal, non-oppressive social relations between staff and clients and works to celebrate the differences between us. We remain dedicated to the principles of social justice, by acknowledging diversity and emphasize social change to accept those we serve.
