DOWNTOWN WOMENS CENTER

Los Angeles, California, 90013 United States

Mission Statement

The mission of the Downtown Women's Center (DWC) is to provide permanent supportive housing and a safe and healthy community fostering dignity, respect, and personal stability, and to advocate ending homelessness among women.

About This Cause

DWC was the first to provide a drop-in Day Center for homeless women in Los Angeles, and we serve nearly 4,000 women each year. Each day we serve 200 women in our Day Center, providing them with clean, private bathrooms, showers, day beds, laundry, free phones, a secure mailing address, food, and a fresh change of clothes. We provide 119 units of permanent supportive housing. 95% of the women we house stay housed permanently. In our Medical and Mental Health Clinic we serve over 300 women, and over 1000 women a year participate in the education and job-readiness programming we offer.
