Mission Statement
Little Wish Foundation grants little wishes to children receiving treatment for cancer. A wish is used to brighten a child's life while receiving treatment. They have been found to bring hope and joy during a very difficult time in a child's life. A Little Wish can be whatever the child wishes for between a $300-$800 range. Many times they include electronic items (gaming systems, iPads, laptops, tvs, DVD systems) but also include wishes like concert tickets, American Girl Dolls, Legos, wagons, musical instruments, spa days, shopping trips or tickets to sporting events. Many times parents cannot afford to buy their child a little wish due to medical expenses so we provide a gift to help give the child hope during this difficult time.
About This Cause
Little Wish Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, was founded in 2010 by Liz Niemiec, age 16. She witnessed a little boy, Max, battle cancer and lose his fight at age seven. At the end of Max's battle, his parents provided him with his little wish, a puppy. Liz saw what happiness this little wish brought Max so she was inspired by Max to bring a little bit of happiness to other children battling cancer. To date, Little Wish is granting wishes in four states at a total of twelve hospitals. Included in the selected hospitals are: Riley Hospital, Riley North, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, Lutheran Children's Hospital, South Bend Memorial, Lurie's Children Hospital, Rush Children's Hospital, Mattel Children's Hospital (UCLA), Lucille Packard Hospital (Stanford) and Phoenix Children's Hospital. We have granted almost 1200 wishes but that number changes quickly. With childhood cancer on the rise, our goal is to reach as many children as possible across the nation.
